Note
~~~~
FilePro Does require a demo key - FILEPRO.KEY in order to run.
You May get this Key From TMS Software at the Numbers provided at
the top of FILEPRO.REG.
Introduction
~~~~~~~~~~~~
FilePro is a unique utility that allows the following :
1 : To tag a group of files in a file area and then
move them to the area you specify.
2 : To tag a group of files in a file area and then
Freshen them.
3 : To tag a group of files in a file area and then
Delete them.
4 : To See Extended Information on a file including
CD or HD Path, Weather the File Actually Exist, Ext. Descr.
and other neat stuff.
5 : To Edit a File Record Including Extended Descriptions.
6 : To Add a File to An Area.
7 : To Download (Copy) Tagged Files to a directory
you specify.

to make sure they still exist on disk, if they don't you will have
the options to mark them as Offline, Move them to a different area,
Delete them from the Database, or just leave them be.

Global Untagging, and Smart Tagging.
11 : All Commands can be clicked on by a mouse.
12 : Dos Hooks can be used to run any program you wish that allows
the filename to be passed as the first parameter.
OfCourse, FilePro may be ran Multinode in DV, Novell, Novell Lite,
Lantastic, and any other Share Based Network. FilePro Supports Full
Record Locking and can be ran while Wildcat is up and Running safely.
Requirements
~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. A valid Filepro Demo Key.
2. A min. of 425k memory available.
3. Wildcat! 3.x
4. EMS - if you don't use or have Expanded Memory, or you experience
EMSHEAP Errors then use the /NOEMS switch.
File Viewing
~~~~~~~~~~~~
You must edit the File Viewing Drop Files to fit your needs although
I included samples with this archive, I doubt they will work on your
system unless you edit them.
Edit the drop files below to your needs.
ViewFile.Bat All Archives and ASCII file Viewer (DATAVIEW).
ViewGif.Bat All Gif Files.
ViewJPG.Bat All JPG Files.
Some Programs such as AVIEWCOM may require the /LOCAL switch to run
so you may need to refer to your doc files for each program.
Some GIF / JPG viewers may need the resolution or other switches on its
command line so also refer to the docs for that program.
All Drop Files have the same format. Please follow the example below.
'GIF FILES' 'OTHER FILES' 'JPG'
@ECHO OFF @ECHO OFF @ECHO OFF
F:\VPIC\VPIC %1 F:\DATAVIEW\DATAVIEW %1 use your line
Command Line
~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you put FilePro into the Main Wildcat Directory then you only need
to use the command line of FILEPRO.
If use put FilePro into its own Directory, then you must use the
command line of FILEPRO C:\WC30 or whatever the path of your Main WildCat
directory may be.
FilePro Moves files in the WC3.x database and will move files on Hard
Disk to the new area as well.
If you don't want files on the hard drive moved, then use the command line:
SortArea C:\Wc30 NOMOVE
This Command will move the files in WildCats DataBase but will NOT Move any
files on the hard drive. There are very few situations that you will use
this command line option.
NOEMS Switch
~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you do NOT have EMS available then you must use the NOEMS command line
switch. Sometimes, you may not have enough EMS available or your EMS may
not be compatible and you need to use this switch. DV sometimes will not
allow another window to be opened while FilePro is running, this is because
FilePro will grab every bit of EMS it can. To solve this, use the NOEMS
switch. It really doesn't make that big of a difference although I allowed
the FilePro to use EMS by default.
Commands / Keys / Mouse
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
These are pretty much self explanatory but I have installed a quick help
screen for the keyboard keys. This screen will pop up by Clicking on
F1 - HELP or by pressing the F1 Key.
HighLighting Files
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
HighLighting a File maybe done by by using the arrow keys on the keyboard
or by single Clicking the Left Mouse Button on the Desired File. Double
Clicking on anyfile will highlight AND tag that file.
Tagging Files
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tagging a single file can be done by HighLighting the desired file and
pressing ENTER or SPACEBAR or by clicking the Left Mouse Button.
If you Wish to Tag all the files on the Screen then either Press
[ALT T] or Click on the Tag portion of the command bar.
UnTagging Files
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You may Untag a single file by either double clicking on it with the Left
Mouse Button or by HighLighting the Tagged file and Using ENTER or SPACEBAR
to untag it.
Smart Tag [ALT S]
~~~~~~~~~
Used for MOVING files Only! Smart Tag should not be used for any of the
other Tasks, It may work but it wasn't designed for anything but Mass Move.
If Smart Tag is not turned on then the file tagging feature operates as
a Move All Tagged files to the ONE AREA SELECTED. If Smart Tag is turned
On, then for each file you tag, you will be prompted for the new area.
This allows you to tag alot of files for alot of different areas and move
them at one time. You will become use to the difference once you have
used this feature.
DELETE, FRESHEN, MOVE, COPY
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
All these commands require that you tag the files you wish to process.
ADD, EDIT, INFO, VIEW
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You just highlight the files and press the correct keys for the process
you wish to start.
ADD FILE [ALT-A]
~~~~~~~~
When you select [ALT A] to add a file, you will be prompted for a legal
dos filename to add, or you may enter wildcards (*.Zip *.*). Afterwards,
you will be prompted to enter a password, then a file description. If
you enter a file description, the File Keywords will be created for you
automatically. The file then is added to the database with the correct
time, date, and size.
FRESHEN [ALT-F]
~~~~~~~~
Tag the Files you wish to update then use the [ALT F] or Click on the
Freshen part of the command bar.
Freshen will update the file record with the current size and date of the
file(s) tagged.
EDIT A FILE [ALT-E]
~~~~~~~~~~~
Highlight the File you wish to Edit and press [ALT E] or Click on the
Edit portion of the command bar.
You can move from field to field by using the arrow keys, tab key, enter
key, or by Clicking on the field with the Left Mouse Button. Any Field
will not retain its modified state unless you leave that field before
saving the record.
F10 will save all changes and ESC or Right Mouse Button will abort the
modifications and return you to the browser.
When changing the area while inside of edit, you may press F2 for an Area
picklist.
To Edit the extended file description, just click or press enter on the
field and a new window will pop up with an editor.
INFO [ALT-I]
~~~~
This just an information screen, NOT an Editor! Just shows information
on a file.
A few things that you should know. The Path of a file in the info screen
swaps from HDPATH - if a files is on hard Drive to CDPATH if the file is
on CDRom , plus the FullPath and Filename of the File. If the File Does
not exist in the correct place, then it will say NOT FOUND ON DISK.
The Lower part of the info screen expands automatically if a file contains
an extended file description. This lower portion of the screen is fully
scrollable by the arrow keys or by mouse using the scroll bar on the right
edge of the screen.
[ESC] or Right Mouse Button will Escape the Info Screen and return you
to the Browser.
ReValidation [ALT-R]
~~~~~~~~~~~~
After Tagging files, you can use [ALT R] to ReValidate the tagged files.
All that Revalidate actually does is to make sure that each file can be
found in the proper directories on the disk. If the Files are not found,
then you will have the options of marking them offline, deleting them from
the database, move them to another area, or leave them the way they are.
Upload Files [ALT-L]
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Uploading files is ALMOST the same as Adding Files with the exception that
Upload allows you to add a file from ANY path. In other words, you are not
limited to paths specified in makewild. Say you add a file from C:\ to
the database, the actual file will be Moved from c:\ to the proper
directory for that file area (The First set path in makewild for that area).
Wildcards may be used with Upload also. You will also be prompted for
password required and file description just like Wildcat! .
Matching [F2]
~~~~~~~~
Matching will expand as FilePro develops, although simple matching can be
used now. You may use Matching to search for certain text in Keywords,
File Description, Uploader, On CdRom, On HardDrive, Filename, CDRom or
Stored Path. One one search Item is allow at this time. Wildcards may be
used on the filename only. Partial matches will be found also, example,
Search Item - CDPATH set to W:\ = All files with a stored path starting
with W:\ , this will come in handy when I add the Change feature in a
future release.
Dos Hooks [ALT-H]
~~~~~~~~~
Up to Three Dos Hooks may be used.
Sample DOSHOOK.CFG and DOSHOOK1.BAT files have been included.
The DosHook.Cfg is just a file that holds the name and description of
what each hook does, these are required to function. The DOSHOOKx.Bat
is the Batch file for each hook, DosHook1.bat, DosHook2.Bat, DosHook3.Bat.
The Highlighted File is passed the the batch file as the first parameter,
so if I wanted to use CSPRO.EXE as DosHook1 then I would do this...
c: - These are needed, make sure you also change back to the
cd\cspro - directory filepro is in when finished, see below.
cspro %1 - the %1 will be replace automatically by filepro when ran.
d:
cd\filepro
I use CSPRO by Mike Ortiz & Scott Green to convert files, scan, and
recompress files before I move them from my new upload directory to
their new home. This saves my long distance callers time online.
One file at a time can be ran with each ALT-H execution. All tagged files
may be implemented in the future.
